Langton Priory, Guildford - A beautiful residential development

Langton Priory is the stunning conversion of a charming historical priory into several luxury residential apartments conducted by Newcourt Residential. The Priory runs alongside the River Wey in Guildford and houses two basement apartments which were sympathetically designed to retain the layout and detail of the heritage property.  With the internal finishing of the highest standard, ensuring the basement apartments remain dry and protected from sustained ground water flow was of utmost importance.  Working in a design and installation capacity, we detailed a Type C Cavity drain membrane system to provide reliable and ongoing protection.

Through good communication, setting clear goals and working closely with a reliable developer, this project is an ongoing success with a dedicated waterproofing solution designed and installed to achieve a habitable Grade 3 environment as identified in the British Standard BS8102.

The Dickson Poon China Centre, St Hugh's College, University of Oxford

The magnificent Dickson Poon Building in the grounds of St Hugh’s College is a prestigious, state of the art, multi-storey centre opened on 8 September 2014 by HRH The Duke of Cambridge.  The project comprised a large basement with a floor space of nearly 5,500 square metres to house a large part of the Bodleian Libraries’ Chinese book collection. The basement also features a 100-seat lecture theatre and ornamental central garden.

Due to the nature of the internal archive and high-level finishes, providing a reliable waterproofing solution was of utmost importance.  Working closely with the Architect and Construction team, Advanced Preservations designed and installed a multi-line of defence waterproofing system, with Fosroc external Type A Barrier membranes, integral Type B concrete and a fail-safe Newton membranes internal Type C Cavity drain membrane system with bespoke drainage arrangement.

By combining thoughtful and considered design with robust and methodical installation, this challenging project became a great success.
