Recycling Scheme

Working to reduce our Environmental impact

With the ever-increasing concern of global warming and its effects on the environment, we are committed to playing our part to minimise and control what we use, how we use it and what we do with any excess materials that cannot be reused.

The construction sector produces a huge amount of waste every year and although a large percentage is being reclaimed and reused, there are still almost 5 million tonnes of waste being sent to landfill every year.

Plastic makes up a sizeable portion of this as its use in construction is responsible for 23% of the UK’s total consumption, with 40% sent to landfill.

We are very proud to be working to help reduce this figure by being a leading contributor to the unique and award winning Newton Recycling Service.

Since 2017, we have been helping to collect and recycle all compatible waste plastic products and packaging from our projects, turning it back into new construction products. The collections are made directly from site, of from our office when material deliveries are made, keeping the process as close to carbon neutral as possible.

In 2020 we recycled 529 kilograms of HDPE Membrane, which prevented 607 kilograms of CO2 emissions, helping us all to breathe a little easier and saving enough energy to make 84,472 mugs of tea.

The scheme overall has helped to prevent 15.74 tonnes of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere, and that number is growing year on year.
