Is there a fee for a survey?
Survey fees start from £95 + VAT, depending on your property and requirements.

What is the timeline for a survey?
Once we have reviewed your enquiry and you have discussed your needs with the right specialist for your project, surveys are typically conducted within 1–2 weeks, depending on availability.

When will I receive my report?
Survey reports are usually provided within two weeks following the survey. This allows us to conduct a thorough assessment and prepare a detailed, accurate and bespoke report tailored to your property’s needs.

Will the report include a quote for the required works?
Yes, where appropriate, the report will include a detailed quote outlining the scope of work and associated costs.

How long does a survey take?
Surveys typically take 1–2 hours, depending on the size and condition of the property.

What is the timeline for works?
Project timelines depend on the scope and specifications of the work. For larger-scale projects, the lead time is usually 3–6 weeks. For the most accurate timeline, please contact our Operations Team, who will be happy to provide up-to-date information and guidance.

Can your company complete all required works?
Yes, we typically provide a full end-to-end service, from the initial survey to completing the required works to the highest standard.

Do you offer guarantees? When will the guarantee be issued?
Yes, when installing a completely designed system, we offer guarantees for our work. The guarantee will be issued once the works are completed and payment has been received in full.

Are your surveyors qualified?
Yes, our surveyors are fully qualified and experienced in waterproofing, damp-proofing and related areas, ensuring expert assessments and recommendations. We are recognised industry experts, with several of our surveying team holding examiner roles for national qualifications.

Does the company employ or subcontract surveyors and operatives?
We primarily employ our own surveyors and operatives to maintain quality and consistency. On rare occasions, trusted subcontractors may be used for specific specialist tasks such as electrical installations, plumbing, screeding and tiling.

Are you affiliated with the PCA?
Yes, we are longstanding full members of the Property Care Association (PCA) and have been affiliated since its inception, demonstrating our adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Yes, Advanced Basements is a trading name of Advanced Preservations Ltd, offering the same high-quality services under one company.

What is the drying time for plaster?
Drying times vary depending on conditions and thickness, but typically, plaster takes 2–4 weeks to dry fully. We recommend maintaining steady temperatures and gentle ventilation to speed up the process in a controlled way.
Important: Avoid using dehumidifiers, as this can cause the plaster to dry too quickly, leading to cracking or debonding.

What are the timescales for refitting works?
Refitting works, such as skirting boards and refitting radiators, should only be carried out once all surfaces are fully cured and dry. This can take an additional 1–2 weeks after the main works are complete.

What time will operatives arrive to start work?
Our operatives usually arrive between 8:00 am and 8:30 am.

Can I complete elements of the work myself?
Potentially, yes. While we must complete key aspects of the work specification to ensure compliance and guaranteed protection, we often work alongside homeowners and building contractors to tailor the scheme to suit their needs.

What are your payment terms?
To allocate labour, confirm your booking, and procure materials, we request an upfront deposit payment based on the contract value. From there:
- We provide interim invoices (typically monthly).
- A final invoice is issued upon completion.

Can I pay by card or finance?
- We primarily accept BACS transfers.
- We accept card payments up to a limit of £500 for survey fees and small items.
- We do not currently offer a finance package, but if you require staged payments to make the project more viable, please discuss this with your project surveyor.

Are you fully insured?
Yes, we hold fully accredited, industry-specific insurance designed in line with Property Care Association best practices. Our policies include:
- Product & Professional Liability Insurance
- Dedicated Professional Indemnity Insurance
Not all insurance is created equal! We advise checking that your chosen contractor has meaningful cover that truly protects your investment.

Do you offer an insurance-backed warranty?
Yes, our guarantees are fully insured. As a recognised specialist, we also have access to a 3rd Party Insurance-Backed Guarantee (IBG) scheme offered by QANW.
For an additional premium, these schemes provide extra protection in the unlikely event that we are no longer trading. If you require an IBG, please speak with your surveyor or our admin team.
