A fully guaranteed Cavity Drain Membrane system was installed throughout the cellar, designed to conform to British Standard BS8102 – Grade 3 Habitable Space. The system effectively manages water ingress by redirecting moisture to a newly installed sump and pump, ensuring a dry and comfortable environment.
2. Structural Alterations
Key structural changes maximised the space and enhanced functionality:
- Installed a new concrete floor slab for a level, durable foundation.
- Removed a dividing wall to create a spacious, open layout.
- Fitted a new RSJ steel beam to support the altered structure.
- Closed off the existing coal chute to modernise the space.
3. Creating a Stylish and Functional Space
To align with the client’s vision, we implemented bespoke design elements and finishes:
- Installed a new ceiling with integrated spotlighting for a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
- Designed and fitted a bespoke oak staircase with glass balustrades and feature lighting built into the steps.
- Upgraded ventilation to maintain air quality and prevent future damp issues.
